Alex Colby is a photographer and hairdresser based in Astoria, Queens. His photographic work has been published in all manner of unexpected places, and his photos of the gruesome undead illustrate J.M. Hewitt's critically acclaimed "self help" guidebook, Zombie Eye for the Living Guy (Marion St. Press, 2012).
He was the subject of the April, 2015 issue of Penthouse Magazine's recurring feature, Point Blank, which "showcases the vision, work, and talent of emerging photographers" – a dubious honor, but one which he gladly accepts.
His current project, Glamasté, began as a somewhat elaborate love letter to 1970s British glam rock, but it sort of evolved beyond the original vision and became a sold out one night only, multimedia extravaganza event: Go-go dancers, burlesque acts, arial acts, a nude opera performance, a dozen screens showing 36 hours of original footage, and over 130 square feet of printed work, featuring 54 subjects and well over a hundred of their home spun glam rock looks, captured in his signature style.
